The Chocolate Chip Experiment |

What is the Chocolate Chip Experiment? This is a year long project by me for me, to create a game where it loads within 10 minutes and uses minimal custom content and yet can create some truly beautiful homes and Sims, and play stories which are interesting and well-decorated. It will include downloads, tutorials and links to useful information - so it's worthwhile for you too! Why Chocolate Chip? In common Sims Community parlance - playing Vanilla is when you play the Sims without any custom content at all. So Chocolate Chip, is playing mostly vanilla but with some custom content goodness - and what's' better than chocolate? Why am I doing this? I have way too much custom content, and I don't like waiting an hour to play. Also I think that I personally download more custom content than I ever use. And wading through huge amounts of custom content is not my idea of enjoyable when I'm wanting to decorate a house. Also I think that a lot of the Maxis content has good bones, if the textures do it justice - which mostly they don't. I'm primarily a texturer, so maybe I'm picky with what I can see - or maybe it is generally just that bad. There are some sites out there that do spectacular textures for Maxis objects - and I intend to link to them and use their textures to the utmost in my game. I'm also hoping to fill in some of the gaps myself. In the end what I want - is to create a game where I can play happily for 1/2 hour or 3 hours without spending most of that time searching for things. If that's a goal for you - then maybe this experiment is for you too. If you choose to try it for yourself - let me know, I'll be happy and glad to see what you do with it as well.
